Why do I need it

Professional qualifications pursuant to the Capital Market Enterprising Act are divided to 2 parts, hence professional qualifications can be recognised for a provider proving possession of:

  • General knowledge necessary for dealing with customers or professional customers in the context of investment service provision. This knowledge must be documented by a school-leaving examination certificate or a higher education diploma.
  • Professional knowledge and skills necessary for dealing with customers or professional customers in the context of investment service provision. This knowledge and skills are documented by a certificate of the professional examination passing (§ 14f of the Capital Market Enterprising Act).

The Decree defines two categories of the professional examinations based on the scope of investment instruments for which the qualified provider is authorised to provide investment service:

  • INVESTMENT INTERMEDIARY: The professional examination in dealing with customers in the context of investment service provision only applies to the investment instruments listed in § 29 (3) of the Act (narrowed scope of instruments – i.e. the instruments with which an investment intermediary can work).
  • SUMMARY EXAMINATION: Professional examination in dealing with customers in the context of investment service provision applying to all investment instruments listed in § 3 (1) of the Act (full scope of instruments).

Both examination categories have unlimited validity (i.e. the five-year renewal term known from pensions does not apply) and can be sat for with accredited entities like any other examinations.
